Background
After previously undisclosed meetings with Sergey Kislyak come to light, Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from the Russia investigation. The acting deputy attorney general was Dana Boente, formerly the acting attorney general after Sally Yates was forced to resign. The case, however, was handled by Rod Rosenstein, later confirmed as the new deputy attorney general.
